Perdana University received the presence of 2 esteemed guests from RCSI on Monday, 20th January 2020, Prof Patrick Ronan O’Connell, Vice President of RCSI and Mr. Paul Nolan, Director – RCSI Marketing. Their visit which was part of a longer trip to Malaysia for the membership exams, augured well and very timely as Prof O’Connell will be the in-coming President of RCSI, come June 2020. The guests met and had an early meeting with Assoc Prof Bahrulmazi, Prof Dr Michael Larvin and Assoc Prof Dr Karen Morgan. This was followed by an informal session with pre-clinical faculty and the IC 1 students at the Student Lounge.
Later, they proceeded to the KL Academic Centre at Bangunan MMA for further sessions with the clinical faculty and senior cycle students. Prof O’Connell gave a talk on, “How to succeed in a surgical career?” and Mr Nolan spoke on, “MRCSI and how to prepare with RCSI?” They, then paid a courtesy call on the HKL Director – Datuk Dr Heric Corray, visited the HKL Surgery Department and then toured the hospital. Prof O’Connell thanked HKL for providing clinical placement to PURCSI students for 7 years now, continuously. Their visit is further testament of the strong cooperation and continuous bond between PU and RCSI. The students have a greater sense of belonging to the RCSI family with such visits and presence of senior personnel throughout the year, especially when they are included as part of the visit itinerary.
