Perdana University is in the midst of preparing for the September 2017 intake of its unique medical degree program for Bachelor Degree holders from any science-related background that want to enter the medical profession.
The Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine (PUGSOM) was created in 2011 to offer the first ever graduate-entry medical degree program in Malaysia with the collaboration of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), one of the best medical schools in the world. In line with American-based medical degree programs, it only accepts people who have attained a Bachelor’s Degree with a Science major. Its inaugural class started on 8th September 2011 with 24 students.
Since then, PUGSOM has managed 3 cohorts of students. In 2014, PUGSOM started its collaboration with University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. PUGSOM has been fulfilling the dreams of Science graduates that harbor the dream to serve the community and be qualified medical doctors.
The tuition fee for the next intake is only RM450,000.00 for the entire 4-year program. Prior to admission, potential students of PUGSOM have to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related background (such as Biomedical Science, Microbiology, Nutrition or Engineering) with a CGPA of 3.3. The candidates will also have to be fluent in English and will be shortlisted for an interview for a thorough assessment. Graduates of the program will be awarded the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Perdana University and upon passing all parts of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), graduates of PUGSOM are entitled to undergo further residency program in the United States of America, and undergo training in a supervised and organized manner to become competent and excellent medical specialists.
