Sonia is a medical student at the Perdana University-Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine in Kuala Lumpur, where she is in her final year. She spent her elementary years at SK Bukit Tinggi where she was a prefect and awarded Tokoh Kokurikulum in her final year. Upon completing elementary school and acing her UPSR with 5As’ she moved onto SMK Batu Unjur – high school, where she graduated with 10As’ in her SPM examination. In her glory days of high school, she was awarded Tokoh Murid and Tokoh NILAM.
She spent her adolescent years being an achiever of all sorts. Not only did she ace all her examinations, but she was also an athlete. Trained in the martial art of Taekwondo from a tender age of five, while she was still in kindergarten, she then moved on to squash, swimming, and archery. She has made her schools, royal district of Klang, and state of Selangor very proud on many occasions emerging as the victor in countless tournaments.
Upon completing her matriculation studies at Johor Matriculation College, she was awarded a JPA Scholarship where she went on to pursue her undergraduate studies at the Perdana University-Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine in Kuala Lumpur. Over her course of four years there, she was a core member of several societies such as the Asian Medical Student’s Association-Perdana University, The PETS Club, The Editorial Board as well as the Vice President of the Student’s Representative Council. She is also actively involved in community-based research.
