Shuwaathi Thamil Manni is a 3rd-year medical student from Perdana University-RCSI. She is highly motivated to develop her skills and qualities, grow intellectually, and flourish in the medical research field. Her training in medical research started under the guidance of Dr. Kanakeswary Karisnan at PU-RCSI since she enrolled in the summer research programme during her first year in medical school as a research assistant. Her tasks were conducting primary data collection by interview method and survey questionnaires, doing data analysis using SPSS software, and writing the manuscript.
She published a systematic review paper in a peer-reviewed journal as the first author, presented a research paper at the International Conference of Medical Goes Public (ICON-MEGOPIC 2021), and a research poster at the Perdana Research Day 2020. Besides that, she has also attended several workshops in research design and statistics as well as organised research methodology workshops. In addition to her research training and experience, she has acquired leadership and administrative skills during her tenure as the Academic & Research Officer of Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Malaysia, President of AMSA PU, University ambassador of Malaysian Students’ Surgical Society (MSSS), and Policy Action Committee member of Malaysian Medics International (MMI).
