Physiological Society’s “Future Physiology” Conference – Ong Shu Chyi awarded the Rob Clarke Silver Award at the “Future Physiology” Conference for Early Career Researchers held at the University of Leeds, UK

Chua Sue Ying and Ong Shu Chyi , from the Perdana University – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland medical degree programme won research scholarships from the Physiological Society to undertake research projects in the Department of Molecular Medicine, RCSI Dublin, during the summer of 2017. Moohita Arasan won this scholarship in 2016. Ong Shu Chyi won the Rob Clarke Silver Prize  at the “Future Physiology” Conference for Early Career Researchers held at the University of Leeds, UK on the 14th-15th December 2017. This is the most prestigious conference organised by the Physiological Society and is dedicated to undergraduate students, with participants from universities all over the UK and Ireland. Shu Chyi’s project was focused on understanding the role of potassium channels in epithelial wound healing, and was supervised by Dr Viviana Bustos and Prof Brian Harvey. The judges commented on the exceptionally high scientific quality of the project and the clarity of the Shu Chyi’s presentation.
