Highlight: Wan Saizatul Aizan (Kak Wan)

Every month, we feature one Perdana personality who has exemplified the spirit of service and excellence and contributed significantly to University and the community. This month, in honour of the Long Service Award, we are pleased to spotlight one of Perdana’s longest serving staff, who have been with us essentially since the University was established.

Wan Saizatul Aizan, or Kak Wan, as she is affectionately called by everyone, is one of PU’s most beloved and dedicated staff. Kak Wan has served 7 years and 7 months so far at the Finance Department in the Chancellery. Her commitment to her work is evident to anyone who knows her. Her colleague, Norazlin Dnyal, described her as very compassionate and helpful. Below is the full interview with Kak Wan.

Congratulations on getting the long service award! How did you feel?
I’m so honoured and grateful to be the recipient of this award. It has been a long journey full of both challenges and opportunities. Each one has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today. As the saying goes “No pain, no gain.” However, success makes sacrifices worthwhile.

You have been at PU for more than 7 years now. What would be the highlight of your time here so far?
There are so many memories and experiences I have gained throughout my 7 years. I was here since the beginning of PU, witnessed how it evolved. Witnessed the first batch of students graduated. I was so proud to be able to see all that. And that, I would say, was the highlight of my time here in PU.

What do you see is in store for Perdana for the next 7 years?
I believe PU has to double its effort in making sure not only in maximising the number of students in each intake, but also in new programmes of various fields. PU also has to strengthen its research. With strong dedication and commitment from the staff (academic and non-academic), in 7 years, PU could jump to be among top private universities in Malaysia that offers wholesome, quality and top programmes.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
Those who know me, they know of my passion for this profession and my addiction to work! I also love to travel. Exploring another place will give you a fresh appreciation for your hometown, country and “real life.” Once you’re back, you’ll feel lucky to live where you do. You’ll see that there really is no place like home.

Thank you for your service! We’re happy that you are part of our team.
Thank you so much again for this honour. I am truly humbled to be in the company of people who have inspired me, who have helped shape my thinking, who have helped me realise the potential of our profession to truly make a difference. I would like to thank my teammates and colleagues who have made my life here interesting and enjoyable. I hope we will continue to do our best for our company and experience a huge success. Thank you!
