To harvest knowledge from data that may be obtained from a broad range of fields such as life sciences, physical sciences, engineering and technology, and social sciences as well as our daily life, students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience that will prepare them for their career in data science. The School of Data Science aims to be the vanguard for data science. It was set up to concurrently address the three interconnected facets of an academic endeavor-research, education, and services-in order to effectively contribute to the advancement of data science in Malaysia and beyond.
To become a data sciences hub or reference centre for collaborative knowledge discovery and an important global player in the field.

Welcome to Perdana University, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST).
More than ever, digitalization has become an integral part of our lives today, shaping
the way we study, work, live, and play. At FAST, we are constantly enhancing our
programs and introducing new initiatives to adequately prepare our students –
undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners – for the digital age and the new
economy embracing Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). FAST has two schools, namely,
the School of Computer Science and the School of Multidisciplinary Computing.
We are proud of how far FAST has progressed over the years. As the Dean of the
Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, I remain committed to further advancing
our aspirations in three key areas: Talent Development, Research, and
Entrepreneurship. We train our students to face challenges with a positive attitude,
and we groom them to apply their technical and theoretical knowledge for the
betterment of societal needs. We are committed to providing quality education to
produce graduates of high caliber who can deliver intelligent and sustainable
computing solutions.
In 2023, we introduced rigorous programs such as a new Curriculum and new
specializations (Intelligent Systems Solutions, Digital Transformation, platform
Management, Machine Learning-based Analytics, and several multi-disciplinary
specializations) to equip our students with industry-relevant competencies. We also
provide high-quality continuing education and training to the workforce. We will
establish several centers to cultivate student interest in societal welfare and
community work. We will renew our philanthropic efforts collectively to bring about a
more significant impact in our community.
Our research and industry partners who continue to support the Faculty through
R&D collaborations, generous funding, and provision of internship opportunities and
mentorship to our students are an invaluable resource. We hope to increase our
network of partners and deepen collaborations in areas that will benefit society and
our world.
I am confident that FAST will continue to play a vital role in addressing the
challenges of the 21 st century. I look forward to working with our faculty, staff,
students, and alumni to advance our academic and research distinction, enhance
student life, and further expand our social responsibility to shape a better future.
