Stephen Among James, is a recent PhD graduate from Perdana University, Malaysia and a Faculty of Science member at the Department of Biochemistry, Kaduna State University, Nigeria. Before his PhD studies, he was a pioneer staff of the Department of Biochemistry, and later appointed as the Head of the department and as a Faculty Examination officer for Kaduna State University. He is still maintaining his teaching position in Kaduna State University, were he has taught various topics in Biochemistry to students of Biochemistry, Medical, Pharmacy and other Sciences. His research interests are in the area of clinical Biochemistry and applications of bioinformatics to the study of immune responses, allergens, drug design and disease biomarkers. He has supervised research projects of more than 30 students (33 bachelors, 5 PgDs). He has also co-authored two biochemical laboratory manual related practical sessions in biochemistry. He has published more than 10 articles in the field of biochemistry and 6 manuscripts in the field of bioinformatics, resulting from the PhD work, are currently in the pipeline; and he has presented his work at a number of international conferences. He was involved in the development of a novel bioinformatics methodology, and is presently driving an international research group on the study of coronaviruses in relation to his PhD work.
