Dr Idris F. Sulaiman is Advisor & Coordinator for Southeast Asia Engagement, eResearch Support Group-Australasia an initiative started by the Australasian eResearch Organisations (AeRO) and Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). Prior to this he worked as the ASEAN Researcher on the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (E-READI) project which is a development cooperation programme funded by the EU to conduct the mapping of ASEAN HPC capacity, their related research infrastructures and policy orientations. Idris has a diverse background, having worked in academic and research, consulting and teaching in information technology, data management and policy, energy effficiency of data centres and buildings, green organisation maturity modelling and business development. He has worked in academia, government and the private enterprise in Australia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Japan and Korea. He has a PhD in economics of technology from the Australian National University, has authored research articles, and has been awarded grants and have part of projects from bodies including the GIZ German Aid/EU-Directorate of Research and Innovation, Asian Development Bank, US Agency for International Development, Japan International Cooperation Agency and the World Bank.
