Workshop details

WORKSHOP 1
Microbiome analysis using bioinformatics approach

Date: 26 November 2019
Venue: Auditorium 2

This workshop introduces the participants to metagenomics analysis, types of data/technology, file formats and tools. It covers the whole workflow from quality control to taxonomy profiling. The workshop consists of lectures, hands-on and demo. The free and user-friendly MEGAN software is used in the practical and demo sessions. This workshop aims to give an exposure to metagenomics pipeline.

Learning outcome:

  1. Able to check the quality of reads
  2. Able to perform sequence similarity search
  3. Able to perform metagenomics analysis using MEGAN
  4. Able to do taxanomy classification and visualise the results
