Data is the most critical element in the operation of any organization. Data Systems are being deployed by effective organizations for the collection, systematization, storage, and communication of information. The need to do so has never been greater than in the current digital era of the big data deluge, characterized by volume, velocity, variety, and veracity. Traditional methods of handling data are no longer sufficient. Effective application of data systems is a challenge faced by organizations of all sizes, big or small, locally and abroad.Data Science is an interdisciplinary field that uses approaches to extract knowledge or insights from data. It is an exciting field with tremendous opportunities to improve the quality of life for people across the world. Data Science applies to a broad range of areas, such as medical/health sciences, finance, business and retails, natural sciences, and social sciences. Data Science graduates are, therefore, an indispensable resource for any organization.

This program aims to produce competent and skillful graduates who can flourish in tomorrow’s digital age, contributing to their organization and the country. A unique aspect of the program is that it includes an internship and elective courses that are hands-on and applied in nature, providing the students with skills and awareness of the industry demands.

The internship provides for sufficient exposure to the industry, familiarization with the work environment, and ample time to start a personal network capital; thus, making graduates from this program attractive candidates for employment.

The focus on practical and applied sessions through the core and the elective courses will provide students with hands-on experience that will help internalize the theories and principles taught and prepare them for the internship experience. The students’ teaching team comprises local and international faculty with extensive teaching, research, and industry experience.

STPM or equivalent

  • Minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any 2 subjects and credit in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any 1 Science, Technology or Engineering subject at SPM or equivalent.

STPM or equivalent (Science Stream)

  • Minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science or ICT subject.

Foundation/ Matriculation or equivalent (Non-Science Stream)

  • Minimum CGPA of 2.00 and credit in either Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and any 1 Science, Technology or Engineering subject at SPM Level or equivalent.

Diploma in ICT or Science and Technology related field

  • Minimum CGPA of 2.50 (Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.00 may be admitted subject to rigorous internal assessment process).


  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Perdana University’s Senate
